The Weighted Blanket Guide
Everything you need to pick the right weight, size, and fabric — and how weighted blankets fit into a calmer bedtime routine.
How weighted blankets work
Weighted blankets use a principle called deep-pressure stimulation. The even, gentle pressure many people find grounding — similar to a firm hug — which supports wind-down before sleep.
How to choose a weight
A common starting point is roughly 8–12% of your body weight. Heavier isn't better; the right weight feels grounding, not restrictive. Our blankets come in 12, 15, and 20 lb options — the 15 lb size fits most adults between 130 and 170 lbs.
How to choose a fabric
Warm sleepers should look for a breathable cotton or bamboo cover. Colder sleepers may prefer a plush minky cover that holds warmth. All our blankets have removable, machine-washable covers.
How to use it
Many people prefer using a weighted blanket during the last 30–60 minutes before sleep, then switching to a lighter cover overnight if they run warm. Others sleep with it all night — do what feels good.
Who should skip it
Weighted blankets aren't recommended for infants, toddlers, or anyone who can't easily remove the blanket themselves. If you have a medical condition affecting breathing or circulation, check with your doctor first.
